Virginia Aerial Photographer Captures Images of the 2009 Chincoteague Pony Roundup

HTML clipboardHighcamera Aerial Photographic Service has announced the release for sale of eight aerial photographs of the 2009 Chincoteague Pony roundup. The collection of aerial photographs includes images of the ponies as they were led along the beach at Assateague Island in preparation of the 2009 Chincoteague Pony Swim, Penning and Auction.

The 2009 roundup was the first time that aerial photographs were taken of this world famous event. Patrick Hendrickson of Highcamera explained the process, stating: "The aerial images were captured after an extensive permitting process by the National Park Service and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

The wild ponies are the property of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company whose famous "saltwater cowboys" round up the horses annually during the Pony Penning on the last Wednesday and Thursday of July. The ponies swim across Assateague Channel at slack tide on Wednesday and are auctioned off on Thursday. This "pony swim" is the highlight of the summer season on Chincoteague Island.

The high quality prints are available as full frame prints of any photo in 11 X 18, 16 X 24 and 20 X 30 which are signed by the photographer.  An online gallery of sample images is available on highcamera.com.
