Newport News Celebration in Lights opens on Thanksgiving night, November 24, 2016. Newport News Park will be transformed by over 800,000 individual lights, creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes.

The event will be open each evening, 5:30 - 10:00 p.m., through January 1, 2017. Admission is $12.00 per car and $60.00 per bus. Newport News Park is located at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA.

The City of Newport News is ushering in the holidays with the 13th Annual Hollydazzle holiday event. Hollydazzle 2016 will be held Saturday, December 3, from 4-8 PM to City Center at Oyster Point.

The event includes a variety of activities and entertainment leading up to the spectacular Light Show with fireworks and special effects and the lighting of the 45 foot tree beginning at 7:45 PM.

Choral groups, musicians, dancers, and variety acts are performing on four stages.Park for free at the City Center Merchants Walk Parking Garage, the Fountain Way Parking Garage, and at a satellite lot at Canon Virginia. A free, continuous shuttle bus service will be provided to and from the event area and Canon from 3 to 9 PM.

MacArthur Center kicks off the twelfth season of ice skating at the coolest place in town. Whether its a family tradition or a first date, the centers 7,200-square-foot outdoor ice rink is the place for good times this winter. Throughout the season, enjoy public skating sessions, ice hockey clinics, figure skating exhibitions and more. The outdoor ice rink is located at the corner of Monticello Avenue and Freemason Street, across the street from The Norva. The MacArthur Center Winter Carnival features seven family-friendly rides. The cost is $1.25 for a single ticket, $25 for 25 tickets or $40 for 50 tickets. Rides include: 55-foot-tall, LED-lit Ferris wheel and a 20-foot-tall fun slide for big and little kids, along with the Ocean Rage, The Speedway, Spinning Monkeys, Red Baron airplanes and Rio Grande Train. Dickens Christmas Towne is a grand-scale experience designed especially for families. Guests are transported back to Victorian London. Carolers will provide the soundtrack and actors dressed in period costume will bring the village to life. Boats decorated with lights and wreaths illuminate the nearby waterfront and an outdoor train ride provides fun for all ages. Dickens Christmas Towne offers a chance for families to play, learn, sing, and celebrate together.

Holiday Market and Holiday Yule Log Bon Fire

A one-day Holiday Market will be held in Town Point Park on the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront. This festive outdoor wonderland will feature unique and local crafters, Christmas caroling, and a visit Santa Claus. During the festivities, hot chocolate, ciders, seasonal craft beer, mulled wine, and other holiday treats will be available for purchase. The Holiday Market will coincide with the 3rd Annual Holiday Yule Log Bon Fire. The 2016 Town Point Park Holiday Market and Holiday Yule Log Bon Fire are free and open to the public.
