Anglers around Hampton Roads may fish without a license during Virginia free fishing days (June 3-5, 2011).

According to the Virginia Marine Resources Commission,  no fishing license of any kind will be required for recreational saltwater rod and reel fishing during free fishing days.

A Virginia saltwater fishing license costs $17.50 a year for state residents.

In addition to Virginia free saltwater fishing days, the state Department of Game and Inland Fisheries declared the weekend of June 3-5, 2011 to be free fishing days in the state’s freshwaters, except in designated stocked trout waters.
