Hampton Roads Virginia beaches are known for their white sand, festive atmosphere, and water suitable for swimming from June thru October. The beaches and their surrounding boardwalks and parks are home to some of the Mid Atlantic's top festivals, shows, and other events.
During the summer season, Hampton Roads beaches are perfect for swimming and tanning. While at the beach, visitors also enjoy walking, running, hiking, collecting sea shells, flying kites, fishing, birdwatching, photography, painting, picnics, and other pastimes. Waterfront areas are also popular for weddings, family reunions, cookouts and other outings.
The most well known Hampton Roads beach is located along the three mile oceanfront boardwalk in Virginia Beach. This famous landmark is an excellent spot for shopping, site seeing, biking, roller-blading, running, or just strolling.
The boardwalk area is home to a diverse array of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, bike rentals and other businesses. Attractions include a variety of nautical sculptures, the most famous being King Neptune. The 24 foot bronze statue is located at the Neptune Festival Park on 31st Street.
Live music, shows and other entertainment is available from Spring thru Fall on four oceanfront stages which are located near 7th, 17th, and 24th and 31st Streets.
