Newport News Tree Give Away

A bare root tree and shrub seedlings give away will be held at Brittingham-Midtown Community Center in Newport News on Saturday, March 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This free event is open to the public and items are available on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

Homeowners should bring a large trash bag or other container to place their trees and shrubs in as one will not be provided.

There tentatively more than 20 variety of trees available including:

Apple, Pear, Buttonbush, Dogwood, Red Osier, Allegh, Chinquapin, Hazelnut, American Elderberry, Maple, Oak, Bald Cypress, Pine, Wash. Hawthorne, River Birch, and more.

These trees are provided by the Virginia Department of Forestry by way of a generous donation from the Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company. The event is organized by the Elrahhal family of Newport News.
