The city of Newport News will host the 12th Annual One City Marathon (OCM) returns February 27–March 1, 2026 .
The One City Marathon has grown to become a hometown celebration that connects neighborhoods, showcases local businesses, and welcomes visitors from across the region.
OCM Hype Squads
This year’s theme, Power the Hype, puts the spotlight squarely on the community. Introducing OCM Hype Squads—high-energy cheer stations placed along the racecourse to motivate runners and turn the route into a citywide party.
Local businesses, churches, civic groups, nonprofits, and friend groups are invited to host or sponsor a Hype Squad.
Participation in Hype Squads allows non-runners and small businesses to be part of the action, show city pride, and get seen by thousands of runners and spectators.
OCM Hype Squad interest forms and additional community sponsorship opportunities are available at nnva.gov/ocm.
One City Marathon invites participants of all levels and experience. In addition to the 26.2 One City Marathon, participants can choose a Half Marathon, Maritime 5K, and popular Nautical Mile Fun Run for kids. There is also a Multi-Race Challenge.
Celebrating its 12th year, the Newport News One City Marathon is a one-of-a-kind, world-class experience located in Hampton Roads Virginia. The One City Marathon is a USA Track & Field Certified Course and Boston Qualifier.
